A private taxi for the 245 km drive from Delhi to Jim Corbett.
One car, one driver who already knows the Muradabad bypass traffic pattern, and a fare that’s fixed before you leave home. Sedans to Tempo Travellers, doorstep pickup anywhere in Delhi NCR.
Tonight’s Departure Board
Booked correctly the first time, not fixed after something goes wrong.
Most complaints about outstation taxis trace back to three things: a driver unfamiliar with hill roads, a fare that changes at the toll plaza, and no one to call at 11 PM when plans shift. We built the booking process around removing exactly those three problems.
Drivers who know NH9 by feel
Our roster runs this stretch regularly enough to know where Moradabad traffic bunches up, which fuel stop has the cleanest washroom, and how the forest road into Ramnagar behaves after dark.
One fare, quoted upfront
Toll, driver allowance and fuel for the quoted route are included in the number you’re given at booking. If your plan changes on the road, we tell you the new number before you agree to it — never after.
A desk that actually answers
Early pickups and late safari returns don’t follow office hours, so our dispatch line doesn’t either. If a driver runs late, you get a call, not silence.
Sanitised, inspected vehicles
Every car is checked for tyres, AC and interior cleanliness before it’s assigned to a Corbett run — a 5-hour highway stretch is a bad place to discover a soft tyre.
Built for families and groups
Child seats on request, Tempo Travellers for groups over seven, and drivers briefed to take feeding and washroom breaks when kids or seniors are travelling.
Transparent cancellation terms
Plans around a national park trip shift with weather and safari permits. Our cancellation window is written in plain language before you pay anything.
The numbers behind the name, so you’re not booking on faith alone.
We’d rather show verifiable operating figures than make claims we can’t back up. The fields below are updated periodically from our own records and our Google Business Profile — ask our dispatch desk to confirm current figures at the time of booking.
Figures above are placeholders pending verified data from business records and Google Business Profile — none of these numbers are estimates or invented statistics, and none should be published until confirmed.
Jim Corbett doesn’t have a station worth arriving at.
Ramnagar station exists, but connections from Delhi are limited and the last stretch into most resorts still needs a road vehicle. Here’s the honest comparison.
| Factor | Private Taxi | Train (via Ramnagar) | Bus (UPSRTC/private) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Door-to-door | Yes — home to resort gate | No — taxi still needed from station | No — drop point is usually Ramnagar bus stand |
| Travel time | 5–6 hrs, flexible stops | 6–7 hrs, fixed schedule | 7–8 hrs, more stops |
| Early morning safari access | Reach resort night before, safari-ready | Limited by train timing | Often arrives too late for first safari slot |
| Luggage & gear | No restriction, boot space included | Manageable but crowded in peak season | Overhead racks only |
| Best for | Families, couples, groups, senior travellers | Solo budget travellers comfortable with a connecting cab | Very tight budgets |

Pick the vehicle that fits your group and your luggage.
The most common mistake we see is booking a sedan for a family of five with safari bags — boot space matters more on this route than most, since you’re carrying warm layers even in April.

A few things you only learn by running this route every week.
Not marketing copy — these are the small calls our dispatch and driver team make on a normal week doing Delhi–Corbett runs.
Which gate suits which resort
Resorts on the Dhikala side of Ramnagar sit closer to the Amdanda/Dhangarhi approach, while Bijrani-side stays are a shorter run to that gate. Ask us which gate is nearest before you lock a resort if the safari zone matters more than the room.
Weekend departure buffer
For Friday-evening or Saturday-morning starts, we build in a 60–90 minute buffer against NH9 traffic before quoting an arrival time — a promise of “5 hours” on a Saturday is usually optimistic.
When to book ahead
November–February and long weekends are our peak booking weeks; vehicles for Diwali, New Year and Christmas week routinely fill up 10–15 days out, so those dates need the earliest lead time.
Asking for a specific driver
Returning guests can request a driver they’ve travelled with before — we try to accommodate this on repeat Corbett bookings when the same driver is available for your dates.
Seasonal call on departure time
April–June heat makes a pre-6 AM start noticeably more comfortable for the car’s AC load and for kids; in December–January fog, a slightly later 7 AM start often beats a pre-dawn one — see the timing tabs below.
Where drivers actually stop for fuel
Kashipur is the last reliable fuel and ATM stop before network coverage thins — our drivers top up here by habit even if the tank isn’t low, rather than risk it on the forest stretch.
When to leave Delhi, by day and by season.
The gap between a 5-hour drive and an 8-hour drive is almost always departure time, not distance.
Leave Delhi by 5:30–6 AM and you’ll be past Moradabad before the local commuter traffic builds up. This is the smoothest window of the week — most weekday trips reach Ramnagar in under 5.5 hours.
Friday evening and Saturday morning departures both see heavier NH9 traffic from other Delhi travellers doing the same run. Leaving before 5 AM or after 9 PM avoids most of it; a 7 AM Saturday start typically adds 60–90 minutes.
Long weekends and festival periods (Diwali, New Year, summer school holidays) see the heaviest load on this corridor. Book your taxi at least a week ahead, start before sunrise, and build in a 90-minute buffer for toll queues.
July–September brings waterlogging near Gajraula and occasional slow patches on the forest approach road. Drivers reduce speed through low-visibility stretches — treat the journey as a 6.5–7 hour drive during peak monsoon weeks.
December–January fog is heaviest between Gajraula and Moradabad, usually clearing by mid-morning. A 7 AM departure (rather than pre-dawn) often gets you better visibility for the flattest, fastest stretch of the drive.
India’s oldest national park, and still one of its best tiger sighting odds.
Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park and renamed for hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett, the reserve spans roughly 520 sq km of sal forest, grassland and the Ramganga river belt. It anchors the wider Corbett Tiger Reserve, one of the founding sites of Project Tiger in 1973.
Dhikala
Grasslands along the Ramganga reservoir, best elephant and tiger sightings. Requires advance permit and overnight forest lodge booking.
Bijrani
A dense, compact zone good for a single morning or evening safari without a long approach drive.
Jhirna
Unlike most zones, Jhirna stays open through monsoon, making it the reliable choice for July–September visits.
Dhela
A quieter buffer zone with good birdwatching and lower jeep density than Bijrani or Jhirna.
Garjia
Close to the Garjia temple, known for its river frontage and easier access from Ramnagar.
Sitabani
No separate permit required in the same way as core zones — good for a low-cost, flexible outing.
Durga Devi
The go-to zone for serious birders, known for forest owlets and a strong raptor count.
Corbett Falls
A short trek to a forest waterfall — a good half-day addition that doesn’t need a safari permit at all.
Booking mistakes worth avoiding.
Book zones, not just dates
Permits are zone-specific and cap daily numbers. Dhikala especially sells out days ahead in peak season (November–February) — decide your zone before you decide your resort.
Canter vs. Jeep
Canters (shared, 16-seat, Dhikala only) are cheaper per head but less flexible for photography. A private jeep costs more but lets you linger at a sighting instead of moving on for the next group.
Early slot beats late slot
The first morning safari (roughly 6–9 AM depending on season) consistently outperforms the afternoon slot for tiger activity, especially October to March.
Carry ID for every adult
Forest permits require ID proof at the gate for each traveller — a forgotten Aadhaar or passport is the single most common reason for a delayed entry.
Worth the extra drive, if you have the days.
| Place | Distance from Ramnagar | Why go |
|---|---|---|
| Corbett Falls | 18 km | Easy half-day trek to a forest waterfall |
| Kosi River | 10 km | Riverside cafés and a good sunset stop |
| Garjia Temple | 14 km | Riverside temple on a rock outcrop |
| Corbett Museum | 25 km | Jim Corbett’s original cottage, Kaladhungi |
| Nainital | 65 km | Popular add-on hill station, roughly 2 hrs further |
| Bhimtal | 72 km | Quieter alternative to Nainital, same direction |
| Mukteshwar | 75 km | Orchards, viewpoints, fewer crowds |
| Ranikhet | 90 km | Cantonment hill town, good for a slower second leg |
Match the resort tier to the trip you’re actually taking.
Riverside & forest resorts
Private pools, in-house naturalists, jeep safaris arranged by the resort. Best for anniversaries and slower, longer stays.
Comfortable family resorts
Solid rooms, buffet meals, swimming pool, safari desk on-site. The sweet spot for most family bookings.
Ramnagar town stays
Simple, clean rooms closer to the permit office — ideal if the safari itself is the priority over resort amenities.
