Why Gayatri Tours & Travels

Booked by people who’ve done this drive before, and want to do it again the easy way

We’re not the loudest name on this route. We’re the one regulars call back for.

One fare, no surprises

Toll, state tax and driver allowance are quoted upfront on every one-way and round-trip booking, before you confirm.

Drivers who know the fog

Our regular Doon-route drivers plan winter departures around the Roorkee–Mohand fog belt instead of driving into it blind.

A number that actually picks up

Dispatch runs 24×7. If a car is delayed for any reason, you hear it from us first — not the other way around.

Serviced, insured vehicles

Every cab on this route is under a maintenance cycle short enough that a breakdown mid-highway is the exception, not the risk.

👪

Comfortable for real families

Child seats, extra pillow stops, and slower hill driving on request — we adjust the trip to who’s actually in the car.

The Road

Best route, alternatives, and what the road actually feels like

The Delhi–Dehradun run has changed a lot since the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway opened sections through Baghpat, Shamli and Saharanpur — it’s shaved close to 30–40 minutes off the older NH334 route on a good day, though it isn’t fully seamless end-to-end yet.

Most of our drivers still default to the NH334 → NH34 combination via Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Roorkee, because it’s more predictable in monsoon and has more fuel and food stops if you need to break the journey.

  • 01

    Primary route

    Delhi → Meerut → Muzaffarnagar → Roorkee → Mohand → Dehradun via NH334/NH34.

  • 02

    Expressway option

Delhi–Dehradun Expressway sections cut travel time on clear stretches; drivers switch based on live traffic that day.

  • 03

    Hill approach

The last 25 km after Mohand climbs through forest — narrower, slower, and where we drop speed regardless of how the rest of the drive went.

  • 04

    Monsoon note

July–September can bring waterlogging near Saharanpur; we build in a 45-minute buffer during monsoon bookings.

  • 05

    Best breakfast stop

Most of our drivers stop at the highway dhabas near Muzaffarnagar for breakfast — parathas and tea, clean washrooms, and a reliable 15–20 minute break roughly two hours in.

  • 06

    Best washroom stop

Beyond Muzaffarnagar, the fuel-station chains just before Roorkee are the drivers’ preferred washroom stop — better maintained than most standalone dhabas on this stretch.

  • 07

    Weekend traffic timing

Friday evening and Saturday morning departures see the heaviest traffic out of Delhi and into Meerut — a departure before 6 AM or after 11 AM usually avoids the worst of it.

  • 08

    Driver recommendation

For first-time hill travellers, we recommend requesting one of our senior Doon-route drivers — they’re the ones who’ve done the Mohand climb often enough to read the road rather than just follow it.

Planning

Best time to visit Dehradun, and what to expect on the road each season

Dehradun is comfortable most of the year, but the drive itself changes character with the seasons — that’s usually more relevant than the destination weather when you’re planning a road trip and not a flight.

  • Mar–Jun

    Summer

Plains stay hot till Roorkee; Dehradun itself stays 8–10°C cooler. Best window for an early-morning start to beat daytime heat on the NH334 stretch.

  • Jul–Sep

    Monsoon

Green, dramatic, and genuinely beautiful near Mohand — but build in extra travel time for waterlogged patches near Saharanpur.

  • Oct–Nov

    Autumn

Arguably the best driving window all year — clear skies, comfortable temperatures, minimal fog.

  • Dec–Feb

    Winter

Cold, and foggy near Roorkee in the early mornings. We schedule winter departures after 8 AM once the fog has typically lifted.

Before You Travel

Practical tips from drivers who do this route every week

  • A light jacket even in summer — the temperature drop after Mohand is noticeable by evening.
  • Power bank; charging points are sparse between Roorkee and Dehradun.
  • Motion-sickness tablets if anyone’s sensitive — the hill stretch has real curves.
  • Printed hotel confirmation; signal gets patchy in short patches near the forest stretch.
  • Comfortable, closed shoes if you’re extending to Robber’s Cave or Sahastradhara.
  • A refillable water bottle — fewer plastic-bottle stops needed along the highway.
  • Cash in small denominations for local tea stalls that don’t take cards.
  • Sunglasses; the plains stretch has strong glare through late morning.
  • One-way sedan trip: fare + toll (~₹450–550) + driver allowance (~₹400).
  • Round trip adds a second day’s driver allowance and return toll.
  • Food stops along the highway run ₹150–300 per person for a proper meal.
  • Add ₹200–400 if travelling after 10 PM for night driving.
  • Extending to Mussoorie or Rishikesh adds roughly 70–110 km to a round trip.
  • State entry tax for Uttarakhand is charged at actuals, shown on your invoice.
  • Ask for an all-inclusive quote upfront — we always give one before dispatch.
  • Group travel (Tempo Traveller) usually works out cheaper per person than two sedans.
  • All drivers carry ID and a verified vehicle registration you can check on pickup.
  • Live location is shared on request for family members tracking the trip.
  • Cars are checked for tyre condition and spare-tyre readiness before every hill trip.
  • We avoid scheduling the Mohand climb after dark unless specifically requested.
  • Emergency contact numbers for Roorkee and Dehradun district hospitals are kept on file.
  • Seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers, front and back, for the full journey.
  • First-aid kit and basic tools are standard in every vehicle on this route.
  • Drivers take a mandatory 15-minute break after 2.5 hours of continuous driving.
  • Solo women travellers can request a background-verified, senior driver on booking.
  • Live trip tracking link can be shared with a family member or friend for the full journey.
  • Well-lit, busier fuel-stop chains are preferred over isolated dhabas after sunset.
  • Direct dispatch contact number is shared before the trip, not just a generic helpline.
  • Pickup from inside a hotel lobby or society gate can be arranged instead of the street.
  • Drivers are briefed to confirm identity via the exact name and booking ID before departure.
  • Flexible stop requests are accommodated without needing to justify them.
  • 24×7 support line stays reachable through the entire journey, not just business hours.
  • Innova Crysta or SUV recommended for easier entry/exit versus a low sedan.
  • Slower hill-driving pace on request, with additional short breaks built in.
  • Drivers assist with luggage at every stop, not just at pickup and drop.
  • Cushions and neck-rest support available on request for longer sits.
  • Wheelchair-accessible pickup coordination available with advance notice.
  • Medication and water breaks are scheduled in rather than left to chance.
  • Direct drop at hotel entrance or hospital gate rather than a general parking area.
  • Preference for daytime travel to avoid late-night hill driving.
  • Child seats available on request — mention the child’s age when booking.
  • Robber’s Cave and Sahastradhara are both easy, low-effort add-ons for kids.
  • Extra snack and washroom stops built in without affecting the overall schedule.
  • Entertainment breaks (short photo stops) planned around the Roorkee stretch.
  • Larger SUVs or Innova Crysta recommended once you’re travelling with more than one child.
  • Drivers are comfortable with slower starts and multiple short breaks for families.
  • Pet-friendly vehicles available on request — let us know in advance to plan the seating.
  • Doorstep pickup avoids the hassle of coordinating a family group at a meeting point.

Questions We Get Often

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Delhi to Dehradun taxi cost?

+

A one-way sedan trip typically runs from around ₹9 per km, plus toll (roughly ₹450–550) and a driver allowance of about ₹400. SUVs and Innova Crysta cost more per km but seat more people comfortably — ask for an exact quote against your travel date, since fares can shift slightly with fuel prices.

What is the distance and travel time from Delhi to Dehradun?

+

It’s about 245 km by road, and takes roughly 5.5 to 6.5 hours depending on traffic through Meerut and Muzaffarnagar, weather, and how many stops you make.

Which is the best route — NH334 or the new expressway?

+

Both work well. The Delhi–Dehradun Expressway sections can save time where they’re complete, while NH334 via Roorkee remains more predictable for food and fuel stops. Our drivers choose based on live traffic conditions on your travel day.

Is toll included in the quoted fare?

+

No — toll, parking and Uttarakhand state tax are charged at actuals and shown separately, so you know exactly what you’re paying for rather than a bundled number.

Can I book a round trip with multiple stops?

+

Yes. Many of our Dehradun bookings extend to Mussoorie, Rishikesh or Haridwar. Tell us your full itinerary upfront so we can quote the complete trip rather than adjusting fares mid-journey.

What’s the minimum kilometre billing for a round trip?

+

Round trips are billed at a minimum of 250 km per day, which is standard for hill-route outstation cabs across the industry — it covers the return distance even if your actual usage is lower on a given day.

Do you provide airport pickup from IGI Airport?

+

Yes. We provide airport pickup from all three terminals of IGI Airport with live flight tracking, so delays won’t affect your pickup. You can also explore our Delhi Airport Service for airport transfers, meet & greet assistance and 24×7 chauffeur-driven cab bookings.

Do you pick up from Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun?

+

Yes. We provide reliable airport pickup and drop services at Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun Airport). Whether you’re travelling to Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar or returning to Delhi, our driver tracks your flight and arrives on time for your pickup.

Is the drive safe during monsoon?

+

Generally yes, though we build in extra buffer time for possible waterlogging near Saharanpur and slower driving on the Mohand hill stretch. We’ll flag any specific weather concerns before your travel date.

What vehicle is best for a family of 6 with luggage?

+

Innova Crysta is the most popular choice. It seats 6–7 passengers comfortably with room for luggage and handles the hill stretch better than a standard sedan.

Can I request a specific driver for a repeat trip?

+

Yes. For corporate accounts and repeat customers we try to allocate the same driver whenever availability allows, since familiarity genuinely helps on multi-stop or recurring trips.

Is night travel available?

+

Yes, though we generally avoid scheduling the final Mohand hill climb after dark unless specifically requested, since visibility on that stretch drops noticeably at night.

How far in advance should I book?

+

Twenty-four hours’ notice is usually enough, but during peak season (May–June and October) booking 2–3 days ahead helps guarantee your preferred vehicle.

Do you offer corporate billing?

+

Yes. We provide GST invoices, monthly billing, flexible payment options and dedicated account management for businesses. Learn more about our Corporate Cab Services for employee transportation, executive travel and business travel requirements across Delhi NCR, including regular travel between Delhi and Dehradun offices.

What is your cancellation policy?

+

Free cancellation up to 6 hours before pickup. Cancellations closer to pickup time carry a partial deduction to cover driver allocation costs already committed.

Are pets allowed in the vehicle?

+

Yes, on request. Please mention it while booking so we can plan seating arrangements and any necessary cleaning between trips.
